Born and raised in Brazil, Chris Barreto is an internationally acclaimedmultimedia artist now based in New York City. She finds her essence in the interpretation of body paintings of the Brazilian- Indian tribes, connecting elements from the environment and her ideas of spirituality to reveal human beings as works of art.
Ms. Barreto’s endeavors include additional artistic mediums in painting, home décor as well as textiles. In her Art she displays what it is meant to be, identity, inspiration and dynamic sensibility in its purest form.
Through her artistic philosophy, Chris Barreto connects elements from her environment and connects it to an idea of otherworldliness to reveal human beings as works of art. Vivacious paintings and designs reflect this soulful aesthetic and original placement and presentation in her work and reconnect her to her Brazilian roots.
Chris Barreto’s custom hand painted dresses were exhibited at the Guggenheim Museum in a presentation entitled “Brazil: Body and Soul”. The American Museum of Natural History featured her delicate display of a dress made entirely out of chocolate where she partnered with legendary French chef François Payard. Ms. Barreto’s work has entitled her placement in various publications such as Vogue Italia, Vogue Japan, Sportswear International, WET Magazine, The Village Voice, NY Daily News and The Brazilian Times. In addition, her pieces have been worn by high profile celebrity clientele and displayed in feature films and TV shows internationally.
2016, Chris Barreto started a collaboration with Austrian born Singer/Songwriter and Composer Dalal, who is starting to make a name of herself in the United States.
