Meet the famous Musician & Designer Chaz Marcus, who talks about his music passion and love for clothing designing, in this candid interview
US Mag : Please introduce yourself to the readers and Who or what inspired you to get into this profession?
My name is Chaz Marcus. I would have to honestly say music was born in me. I had a love for music even in diapers.
US Mag : We been hearing a lot about you, and your music, so we notice your starting to gain a lot of attention how does it feel?
Thank you. It feels great. Especially when I get feedback from people who found my music on their own and love it. My fan base is growing and Man oh Man I have so much in store. Gaining attention doesn’t change the way I feel, it just shows me how many people are on the same page as me and that just fuels me to want to do more.
US Mag : What are you working on now and where do you feel your music is headed ?
Since September of 2016, I was working on another mix tape. But my hooks were so cold I had to put a pause on my tape & I started hopping on everybody else’s records. My music will be headed internationally.
US Mag : What projects do you have coming up ?
I have a few features coming out the beginning of 2017 you can look out for. I will also be going on tour opening a few show in the coming months with the Woo Gang Moventment. I have a few features on their new project which is crazy.
US Mag :Who are your musical inspirations ?
Of course Michael Jackson, Jimmy Hendrix to name a few.
US Mag : What kind of training have you had, if any ?
I’ve been training all my life. But I’ve had vocal training, I also starred in and toured with Lion King National Tour as Young Simba for 2 years which required singing as well. (But shhhh don’t tell anyone that)
US Mag : If you could perform anywhere, in the world, where would it have to be?
I’m looking forward to performing in Africa.
US Mag : What has been one of the most exciting achievements of your career so far ?
Becoming a better artist everyday is an achievement.
US Mag : Everybody needs time out. What do you do in your free time?
I like to go back home and visit New York.
US Mag : Are you active on social media? what’s the best way to follow you?
I’m no longer using Instagram, the best way to follow me right now is to wait for my new app I’m developing and set to release very soon & my snapchat which is chazmarcus.
US Mag : Are they any other project your working on that you would like to share?
Yes, I’m also a clothing designer. I designed a few pieces for this brand called Franchise (Never Not Winning). My pieces are actually in a few stores now.
US Mag : Wow, That’s awesome! So you’re a designer too? How did that process come about?
The universe. I was given the opportunity by the founder of Franchise named Rick. My business partner/mentor, Don Parma, who also plays a huge part in my music and helped in developing me as a songwriter, actually was the one who convince Rick to hire me as a designer. He told Rick, “If you hire this kid, your clothes will sell!” Rick reluctantly took Don’s advice and basically 3-5 months later I designed a few sweaters, we immediately took meetings and found buyers and now they are in stores. The experience was crazy and I learned a lot from Rick, he brought me to all the meetings with buyers so I was able to see first hand the process and not to mention, the work ethic you need in order to be a great fashion designer. That was also a defining moment for me and great accomplishment to help out with Rick’s company while also knowing that people connect with my artistry in clothing designs as well as music.
US Mag : Where can we buy them ? Are you planning on making more designs?
You can buy them at Shiekh, Tilly’s and I believe forever 21 and the Franchise website at www.frchsla.com to name a few off hand. I plan on releasing my clothing line very soon which is crazy, so be on the look out for that. So, yes there is a lot going on this year and I feel extremely blessed and excited. I’ve been putting in a lot of work and planting many seeds.
